Rough Draft · Session 03
Portfolio Night
Two hours. A portfolio. A real link.

Stop watching.
Start building.

You're looking for work. Tonight you build your own portfolio site with AI — and walk out with it live, at a link you can send tomorrow.

"Nobody really knows what they're doing. Let's figure it out together."

What you leave with

A live site, and a way to talk about it.

Two things. A personal site you built yourself — your name, your work, the part of you that doesn't fit on a CV — live at a real URL you can paste into an application tomorrow morning.

And a working understanding of what AI actually is, which turns out to matter more than people expect. In an interview, most candidates say "I use ChatGPT for first drafts." You'll be able to say "I built and shipped this — here's the link, here's where it broke, here's what I did about it."

What it is

Eight people, one table, two hours.

Everyone opens their laptop at the same time and builds the same thing — their own portfolio. We use Claude Code: you describe what you want in plain English, and it writes the code for you. You don't need to know how to program. You don't need to know what a terminal is. You need to be willing to feel a little confused for a couple of hours.

Strongly recommended: a Claude Pro subscription ($20/month, cancel anytime) lets you build on your own machine and leave with your site live. Without one you'll follow along on the projector and build it once you're set up — you'll still get the experience.

Who this is for

For people between things.

You're in Berlin, you're looking for work, and you're not a developer. Product people. Designers. Marketers. Operators. Writers. Career-changers. You don't need to know how to code, what a terminal is, or where to start.

To be clear about what this isn't: it's not a career workshop. Nobody's reviewing your CV or introducing you to a recruiter. We build for two hours. What you leave with is a link and a skill.

Not for engineers. We're starting at the very basics — you'd be bored. Bring a less-technical friend or teammate instead.

The trade

A small trade for a real shift.
